Na Ying is a noted pop singer in Chinese mainland
known for her lighthearted and forthright personality. Na was most recently chosen to act as one of the four judges on "The Voice of China
" a surprisingly popular singing talent show broadcast on Zhejiang Satellite TV since July 13
2012.
Born on Nov. 27
1967 into a Manchu family in Shenyang
Liaoning Province
Na joined the Liaoning Juvenile Broadcasting Chorus in 1979
and enrolled in the Shenyang Singing and Dancing Troupe in 1983. She won the national Sunshine Cup Singing Contest performing the song "I Found Myself" and was selected by famous poser Gu Jianfen to attend her vocal training center.
Na began her recording career in Taiwan and Hong Kong in 1988
being the first Chinese mainland singer to sign a contract with a Hong Kong record pany. Sales of her "Conquer" album exceeded 2 million across the Asian region.
那英1988年开始在港台发展，成为第一个签约港台唱片公司的内地歌手，其中《征服》进军亚洲市场，销量破200万。
Na has won many awards participating in national singing contests
including the Top 10 Mainland Pop Singers in 1991 and in 1993. At the 1998 Spring Festival Gala show hosted by CCTV
Na sang a duet "Meet in '98" with her friend Faye Wong
which audiences awarded with a second prize. Wong had already achieved fame in Hong Kong and elsewhere
but her duet with Na brought her the status of superstar on the mainland.
Na had a relationship with Chinese footballer Gao Feng and they had a son
but the couple broke up in 2005. She married Meng Tong in 2006 and their daughter was born in 2007.
Although mainly having devoted herself to her family and children beeen 2002 and 2009
Na Ying never really left the stage. She had a prominent role during the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and held the concert "20 Years of Na
" a retrospective of her career
at the Capital Gymnasium
in late 2009. She then went on to release her next album
called “So what” in September 2011.
In 2012 Na was asked to act as one of the four judges on "The Voice of China
" a singing talent show broadcast on Zhejiang Satellite TV. Her fellow judges are Liu Huan
Yang Kun
and Harlem Yu.
