'on behalf of sb'或者'on sb's behalf’有三层意思.第一是"代表或代替某人"
as the representative of somebody or instead of them.
On behalf of the department I would like to thank you all. 我谨代表全系感谢大家.
Mr Knight cannot be here
so his wife will accept the prize on his behalf. 奈特先生不能来
因此由他的夫人代他领奖.
第二个意思是"因为某人
为了某人"
because of somebody; for somebody.
Don't worry on my behalf. 别为我担心.
最后一个意思是"为帮助某人"
in order to help sb.
They campaigned on behalf of asylum seekers. 他们为政治难民发起运动.
Look into就是检查
调查(examine)的意思.
A working party has been set up to look into the problem. 已成立一个工作小组来调查这个问题.
