After Reading “Aesop’s Fables”
When I was young, people around me of the told me the story “The Shepherd’s Boy and the Wolf “ in order to educate me to be an honest person. At that age, in my opinion, it was just a story written by my parents or other people I knew to frighten me. As I grow older, I get to know that it is a fable from a very famous book “Aesop’s Fables”.
The book “Aesop’s Fables” wasn’t written by Aesop but was collected and anthologized by him. The working people created the stories in the book in ancient times. They created the stories using their living experiences and imagination, and then handed them down from generation to generation.
The book one of the precious cultural heritages. There’re more than one hundred fables in the book. The protagonists of most of the fables are animals or plants, which are depicted like human beings. This writing technique is called personification that is often used in fables and fairy tales.
Each fable that is short and understandable tells us a philosophy. There are o stories that impress me most. The first one is “ The tortoise and the Eagle”. A tortoise was plaining of her hard fate that no one would teach her to fly when an eagle hovered bear. He heard her lamentation and promised to take her a lift and float her in the air if she could give him some rewards. And then he carried her up in the sky suddenly he let her go. The poor tortoise fell down on a mountain. At the moment of death she cried:” I have deserved my present fates for what had I to do with wings and clouds, and who can with difficulty move about on the earth?” The story tells us if men had all they wished, they would be ruined. I quite agree with it. Take our personal lives for example. Everyone has his own merit and demerit. One is good at singing while another is good at dancing. Nobody can have all the skills that can be imagined. This is the reason why some people are fit for making decision while other people are suitable for carrying out the decision. So it is no need for us to be jealous of others as we have our own feature, which other haven’t.
The second one is “The Bear and the o Travelers”. It tells us that misfortune tests the sincerity of friends. People live among a group of friends of whom some are true friends while some are untrue friends. When you are in trouble, observe your friends attitude towards you, you’ll find who are your true friends and who are not.
“Aesop’s Fables” is a nice book for us to learn more philosophy of life and more useful new words.

My Feelings after reading Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights is a well-written tragedy of love. After reading the whole story, I would like to talk about the main characters of the story—Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff do love each other very much, but they do not have the right attitude towards love, which leads to the tragedy.
In Catherine’s life, she made a very foolish decision---marrying to Edgar. In fact, her love for Edgar can never be pared to that for Heathcliff. She did so, because she thought the wealth of Edgar would be useful to help Heathcliff. But in reality, it did not work. She did not have a good understanding of love, which is something pure and saint. If anyone add any purpose into love, love itself lost its meaning. Catherine’s wrong decision hurt o people who love her, and even destroyed the happiness of their offspring.
Heathcliff is a man full of retaliation. He loved Catherine very much, but what he did, on the contrary, added to the misery of Catherine. In my opinion, if he really loved Catherine, he should not walk into Catherine’s life again after his disappearance. Further more, after the death of Catherine, what Heathcliff did brought agony to Catherine’s daughter, as well as his own son.
After reading, I have a better understanding of love. If you love really someone, his or her happiness is the thing that most matters.

Learn to love and care
Here I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens.
The resonance beeen me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care.
Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.
Mr. Brownlow is one such person.
The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by o skilled teenage thieves, Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, and thought naturally it was Oliver, who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves, that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful, he caught Oliver, and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered, unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him, Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy, Mr. Brownlow took the injured, poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day, however, Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brownlow’s life. Searching for a while, Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically, they came across each other again a few years later. Without hesitation, Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.
Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact, this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Five not seven times, but seventy-times seven.” Why is that? Because fiveness is our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. S put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.
Then there are Mrs. Maylie and Rose, Oliver’s other benefactors. Maybe the reason they loved and cared Oliver was not because of fiveness. In my point of view, it was trust. They had faith in Oliver when he was considered to be a filthy burglar who tried to break the front door of Maylie’s at midnight. But this wasn’t how these o ladies saw the whole thing. They denied Oliver’s crime immediately and listened attentively to Oliver’s own description of his miserable life. They were deeply touched by Oliver’s strong perseverance and astonishing vitality. Aordingly, they remedied Oliver’s body and heart and turned him into a different boy. He began to wear appropriate and clean suits which were tailor-made for him and receive education.
As far as we can see, it is trust that helps us all live together without precaution. Sometimes trust can even lead us to miracles, which we often expect to e about, so why not trust? Trust yourself, trust others, and you’ll salute miracles every single day.
In the novel, though the young Oliver again and again fell for conspiracies of those hideous thieves, who tried to torture Oliver’s body and poisoned Oliver’s heart intensely, he always lived on and tried hard to seek for his own life. Then I realized what supported him all through were actually beliefs. In most cases, what you believe is what you’ll bee. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you mit to doing, and when you do, your acplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs and that is how you ultimately control your life. It’s all dictated by your attitude.
In the final analysis, love and care contain numerous forms, there are love of fiveness, love of trust, etc. but they all e from your beliefs in life. When someone tells you he’s deceived you, five him anyway, when someone tells you what he’s done, trust him anyway, and when you face adversities while chasing your dreams, think about your beliefs, then what hinders you will bee a piece of cake in no time.
So find out “Olivers” in your life and do as Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Maylie do: love them and care them, which cost nothing but save much. They enrich those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. They can be certain smallest words or actions, but the memory of them sometimes last forever.
Charles Dickens said:“Love makes the world go around.” These immortal words have inspired and will keep on inspiring us to chant the melody of love and to say the prayer of care forevermore. Let us, therefore, enjoy life and treat other people lovingly. These principles are the roots and foundations of beliefs supporting this article and our mission together.

Based on the classic text of Emily Bronte, this incarnation of Wuthering Heights sets up the all-engulfing tragedy beautifully. Since its setting, the windswept Yorkshire moors, is a desolate place at the height of summer, having to fight your way through the teeth of a snowstorm is not for the faint of heart. This is the mistake made by Lockwood (Miles Mander), a temporary resident. Seeking shelter from the blizzard he staggers through the door of Wuthering Heights, finding the atmosphere within just as icy. The master of the house, Heathcliff (Laurence Olivier), reluctantly provides a bed but seems ill at ease with his visitor. There's a sad tale behind his indifference, one which the elderly housekeeper Nelly Dean (Flora Robson) is happy to share. Forty years ago Wuthering Heights was filled with light, warmth and happiness. Mr.Earnshaw (Cecil Kellaway), a congenial gentleman farmer, lives happily with his boisterous children Cathy (Sarita Wooten) and Hindley (Douglas Scott). However, being a kind and generous fellow, he can't help rescuing a poor starving wretch off of the streets of Liverpool, a gypsy child named Heathcliff (Rex Downing). In time Heathcliff bees one of the family, loved by all except Hindley (who nurtures the feeling of being usurped). Cathy is an especially good childhood friend, spending many a carefree day playing on the moor with Heathcliff. Unfortunately when Mr.Earnshaw dies suddenly, Hindley is able to express his enmity with damning cruelty. Heathcliff is condemned to the stable, a position doubly harsh given his former familial state. As the years pass a single reason keeps, the now adult, Heathcliff from leaving and seeking his fortune - Cathy (Merle Oberon). Despite all that oppresses them (Hindley's (Hugh Williams) rages and their positions), there is a love beeen them that refuses to die. Cathy has wild, gypsy blood in her and that side of her personality loves to run through the heather with her prince, Heathcliff. Here they can be children again, far from the misery which courses through Wuthering Heights. However, the more civilised half of Cathy desires fine dresses and a respectable station in society, all things which Edgar Linton (David Niven) can provide. Such a collision of love and desire is ripe territory for the seeds of tragedy. An epic tale of wild, romantic passion, set amongst the heather and wind-swept gulleys, Wuthering Heights is stirring stuff. Presenting a vision of undying love, its genesis in the innocence of youth and resolution in the chill of death, the entire spectrum of emotions is played expertly by Bronte. Such a tale calls for a -notch cast, players who can emote the sheer stubbornness which makes Cathy and Heathcliff destroy each other while remaining deeply in love. So staggering is Heathcliff's pain that he's willing to use Cathy's sister-in-law Isabella Linton (Geraldine Fitzgerald) as a weapon, caring nothing for the poor lass. It's a measure of Cathy's stoicism that she refuses to budge even under these conditions, pretending that she actually loves Edgar.

The Old Man And The Sea 《
The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works.Told in language of great simplicity and power,it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal——a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts,in strikingly contemporary style, the classic thene of courage in the face of defeat,of personal triumph won from los.Written in 1952,this hugely suessfully novella confirmed his power and presence in the literary world and played a huge part in his winning the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature. The novel is very famous in the world, so lot of people like this novel. We also studied it in our Chinese class, Hemingway's novel are always interesting I like his novel much, also in his novel we can learn a lot by his meanings. It’s really a good novel for people to read.

After reading "A tale of o cities" "A tale of o cities" is one of Dickens's most important representative works. The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution, intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel, and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes. The novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on,which displayed people's great strength.
The novel has portrayed many different people. Doctor Mate is honest and kind but suffers the persecution actually , Lucie is beautiful and gentle ,Charles is graceful and noble,Lorry is upright and honest ,Sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm, unconventional but also selfless and lofty,Miss Pross is straightforward and loyal,Evremonde brothers are cruel and sinister......The plex hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge, but take the life as the price.
As an outstanding writer,in Dickens's work, the language skill is essential. Each kind of rhetoric technique, like the analogy, the exaggeration, the contrast, the humorous, and the taunt are handled skillfully, and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak."A tale of o cities" has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes. With the broad real background of the French Revolution, the author take the fictional character Doctor Mate's experience as the main clue, interweaves the unjust charge, upholstery and so many techniques, causes the structure integrity and strictness, the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature,it displayed the remarkable artistic skill.the style "A tale of o cities" is solemnity and melancholy, fills indignantion, but lacks the humor of the early works.
