乌节路以前的终结点是DHOBY GHAUT地区，现在它的范围已从唐林路一直延伸到BRAS BASAH路。不象新加坡的其他街道，乌节路并不是因为某位特别的人物而命名的。相反，它的名字来自于十九世纪四十年代沿街道种植的肉豆蔻和辣椒。
乌节路的南部没有房屋建筑。由于城市从PADANG地区向内地发展和进步，乌节地区的种植业让步给了住宅的发展。很多私人住宅，主要是PERANAKAN形式的平房开始在苏格兰路和唐林路地区占据主导地位。
今日的乌节路是一个繁荣的忙碌的，使人能够体会到乐趣的，融合了东西方文化的地方。新加坡因为新建造的玻璃钢塔闪闪发光，这里也还有更多使它发光的东西。同时，乌节路也不会忘记赐予它美丽的根茎，那些多叶的ANGSANA树，茂盛的人行道边的树木，这一切都显示出一种热带的浪漫。
第七名：德国柏林库达姆大街

起源：这里也是后来威廉姆大帝纪念堂的所在地。人们把这条大街昵称为“库达姆”。绿树成行的街道通往西部，直达瀚蓝斯湖。
建造库弗斯坦达姆大街的主张是由城市建筑师J.A.W von Carstenn-Lichterfelde提出的。1870年他就提议让由市区向西到古耐沃德森林皇家狩猎区的汽车路成为三十米宽的大道。而因为巴黎普斯爱丽丝的例子，更有人坚持认为宽度应该扩展到54米。这条大街从特伽坦斯岔出，建立了一条以八月维克多利亚地区的动物园南部为起点的路线。那里也是后来威廉姆帝纪念堂的所在地。人们把这条大街昵称为“库达姆”。绿树成行的街道通往西部，直达瀚蓝斯湖。
十九世纪八十年代到九十年代，沿西南方向，与古耐沃德的别墅毗邻，盖起了很多富丽堂皇的住宅。十九世纪的由彼特约瑟夫林和杰姆斯好波克起草的城市扩张计划包括了很多相似的绿树成行的街道，与十八世纪弗来瑞克特的巴拉克地区发展计划形成对比。库弗斯坦达姆大街很快发展为了一个重要的购物大道，并且伴随着很多的艺术咖啡屋、剧场、戏院、和电影院。它的吸引力集中体现了繁荣的二十年代的充满活力的文化生活。
第二次世界大战以后，这一区域的功能是作为被分开的西半部城市的商业区，继续扮演它作为娱乐和商业中心的角色。这样它也成为了五十年代德国经济奇迹的证言。公众生活集中在亚当奥尔和布里斯配德之间的地区，而大街上时尚公寓排列成行的西部地区往住宅区的发展方向更加贴近。七十年代，街道的华丽由于快餐店和廉价商店的增多而在某种程度上有所减弱。但是市政府和房产主在八十年代都加入到提升城市形象的力量中来。努力的一部分成果就是在布里斯配德建成的新式喷泉。
东德西德再次统一之后，东西商业区中心(库弗斯坦达姆，弗来瑞克特，亚历山大)之间的竞争更高程度上促进了库弗斯坦达姆地区的进步。今天，它再次成为高级时装和时尚商店汇集的首要地区。
第八名：奥地利维也纳克恩顿大街

地理位置：这个维也纳最着名的步行区坐落在该市第一行政区，位于市中心。
由于它的形状很特殊，像个U字，在维也纳又拥有独一无二的地理位置，所以也被称为金色的U字。
什么是维也纳的步行区所特有，并且可以与其它城市的商业街相区别的呢？那就是在这条街上国际名牌与典型的维也纳家庭企业融洽地共同存在着，所有国际的、国家的以及地区的知名品牌，都可以在这里找到，所以这条街不仅是维也纳人最爱去的地方，而且也是奥地利人甚至所有旅游者购物的必到之处。
除此以外，这条街还有一个奇怪的现象，就是新、旧建筑风格的并存。传统建筑与现代建筑风格描绘出一幅图画，它清楚地表明，老的传统被尊重，但是现代的发展被公然地迎头赶上。
在砍特大街的入口处坐落着世界最著名的歌剧院--维也纳国家歌剧院。在“金色的U字”的中央地带则坐落维也纳最大、最重要的主教教堂——史蒂芬教堂。
当我们闲逛到这个步行区的终点时，等待我们的是米夏埃尔广场和米夏埃尔门。从米夏埃尔门可以通向维也纳胡浮堡皇宫--以前的国王和现在的联邦总统都可以在里面行使权力。
如果我们寻找现代建筑的影子，人们首先可以看到维也纳史特菲尔(一个传统的百货商场)和她现代化的玻璃正墙。而另外一个如此设计的哈斯大楼，史蒂芬教堂可以从他的外侧看到自己反射出的影子。
第九名：俄国莫斯科市阿尔巴特大街
起源：阿尔巴特一词来源于阿拉伯语。
阿尔巴特目睹过商人的驼队和侵略者：蒙古人，波兰军队，拿破仑。在第二次世界大战中几座建筑物(包括瓦可堂果夫戏剧院)毁于纳粹炮弹。
在十九世纪，居住此街曾风靡一时。直到今天，我们还能在人行街道发现房主的名字：托尔斯泰，加加林等——著名的俄罗斯姓氏。他们修建了装饰有凉台，女像柱和灰泥模制的华丽房屋。
但是普通人和中产阶级也居住在阿尔巴特大街。
许多象托尔斯泰、加卜林这样的著名俄罗斯作家也在阿尔巴特大街写了他们的名著。
在1917年革命以前，在阿尔巴特大街有两百家商店和食品店，那时阿尔巴特大街也是莫斯科的文化中心，拥有五万人口的阿尔巴特大街有四家电影院，华丽的瓦可堂果夫戏剧院及其戏剧学校和音乐学校，但同时也别忘了在阿尔巴特大街有许多书店，如今阿尔巴特地区有两条主街构成，阿尔巴特街和新阿尔巴特街，拆掉了许多老式的小房屋，取而代之的是大型的超市、娱乐中心、饭馆以及为消费者服务的游乐市场。而书店、古玩店、珠宝店集中在老阿尔巴特街。
第十名：加拿大蒙特利尔地下城

背景：蒙利特利尔因为它每年4到5个月的冬季而闻名。由于有了地下城，商业区已经扩展了商业和社会文化活动。
地理位置：这个长方形的，大约12平方公里的区域恰恰被卡在两个重要的地理景观中间。北面是皇家山脉(MONT—ROYAL)，南面是圣劳伦斯河。
在十九世纪末期，古老的蒙特利尔城的拥挤和公共广场以及公共空间的建立导致了新的城市中心的出现，后来便出现了那时占北部地区主导地位的交通设施。那时的先锋车道是加拿大国家铁路，它后来在1912至1918年间为横越大陆的火车建立了一条位于皇家山脉之下的轨道，从而使这原本属于自然的地区有了飞速的变化。这条铁路结束于那个“洞”下面的一个小车站，这个“洞”不仅是城市规划者的梦魇，到了五十年代，甚至也成为了地下城的一个菌体。
清楚地意识到买到更多的土地比立即铺设轨道更为迫切这样一个现实以后，CNR就有了跨越三个街区的9万平方米的土地。这样它就能够在四十年后组建了威力玛瑞地区。实际上，如果公司没有做出这些充满智慧的前瞻，地下城也许就不会有今天的存在，或者说，肯定不会像现在这样扩大规模。
这一切要感谢工业萧条时期发起的工作建立计划。1938年，工人们开始填充那个“洞”来建造中央车站。车站于1943年竣工投入使用。从 1944年—1950年，城市试图实施另一些地铁计划，但是没有成功。这些计划广泛地受到了国外经验和主城区两条地铁线路建造经验的影响，正好位于主干线下面，并且有从便道入口进入到车站平台的通道。
到了二十世纪五十年代，城市主要商业区开始形成。CNR选择了“洞”的位置作为新的总部的地点，恰好在中央车站后面。这里也修建了拥有1040个房间的伊丽沙白女王酒店，集会中心正对REN E—LE VESQUE BOULEVARD，以前被称为道彻斯特。
