or “the ultimate west.” Additionally
the name might derive from the Basque word Ezpanna meaning “edge” or “border.” And still yet
some historians claim that the term is from the Phoenician spy
meaning “to fe metal”.
没人知道“西班牙”这个名字的词源。有些历史学家相信它来自布匿语中表示“兔子”的单词 Ispanihad。另一些历史学家则指出，古罗马人把西班牙叫做 Hesperia ultima，意思是“极西之地”。另外，这个名字也可能来自巴斯克语的 Ezpanna，意思是“边缘”或“边境”。再另外，还有些历史学家声称它来自腓尼基语单词 spy，意思是“铸造金属”。
我觉得那个“极西之地”好像比较靠谱。毕竟是西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西西班牙嘛。
