米兰曾经也是个水上城市
意大利的水城不只有威尼斯，米兰曾经也是一座水城，虽然水没有威尼斯那么多。
米兰曾经河道纵横，都是运河，这些运河连接着当地的湖泊、海洋，以及其他重要的水路。整个运河系统花了700多年才建好，但雷人的是，这个系统建好之后不久就有人提议开始关闭，因为要扩建修路，现在其中很多的运河已经被填埋了。

the first proposal to close the channels was made soon after the pletion of the system.
