二、英文中中国的几个传统节日

春节 the Spring Festival ( New Year's Day of the lunar calendar)，农历正月初一，春节历史悠久，起源于殷商时期年头岁尾的祭神祭祖活动。

元宵节（灯节）the Lantern Festival， 农历正月十五，正月是农历的元月，古人称夜为“宵”，而十五日又是一年中第一个月圆之夜，所以称正月十五为元宵节。又称为小正月、元夕或灯节，是春节之后的第一个重要节日。

清明节 the Qing Ming Festival/Tomb-sweeping Day，四月五日，清明节是一个祭祀祖先的节日，传统活动为扫墓。端午节 the Dragon-Boat Festival，每年农历五月初五，本来是夏季的一个驱除瘟疫的节日，后来楚国诗人屈原于端午节投江自尽，就变成纪念屈原的节日.端午节的习俗有吃粽子、赛龙舟、挂菖蒲、蒿草、艾叶、薰苍术、白芷，喝雄黄酒等） 。

中秋节 the Mid Autumn Festival(the Moon Festival)，每年农历八月十五。八月为秋季的第二个月，古时称为仲秋，因处于秋季之中和八月之中，故民间称为中秋，又称秋夕、八月节、八月半、月夕、月节，又因为这一天月亮满圆，象征团圆，又称为团圆节。

重阳节 the Double Ninth Festival ， 农历九月初九，二九相重，称为重九，九是阳数，固重九亦叫重阳.重阳这天所有亲人都要一起登高避灾，插茱萸、赏菊花。
